Welcome to the Toronto General Hospital Department of Anesthesia and Pain Management Virtual Transesophageal Echocardiography website. This site is intended to be a resource for educators and students looking for tools to facilitate the teaching and learning of transesophageal echocardiography.

TEE Modules Now Available on iPad
We are pleased to announce the launch of the TEE Standard Views, TEE Alternative Views and TEE Colour Doppler modules on the iPad!
These apps includes the same features as the web modules, including multilingual support for TEE Standard Views.
Tools available now
TEE Standard Views Application
Using an interactive three-dimensional heart, review the 20 standard ASE/SCA views. This module is now available in the following languages:
New Pathology: Calcific Aortic Stenosis
The Pathology Section of the VIRTUAL TEE site offers students of TEE with two ways to study TEE-diagnosable pathologies: Synopses and quizzes. Now updated to include calcific aortic stenosis.
TEE Simulation
Perform actions to adjust the position of the TEE probe and the ultrasound plane in relation to a 3D model of the heart.
Alternative Views
Using an interactive three-dimensional heart, learn 19 non-standard but often used 2D TEE views.
Spectral Doppler
Learn to assess blood flow direction and measure velocity using spectral Doppler during the standard 2D examination.
Colour Doppler
Using 'colour compare' video clips, learn which structures should be viewed using colour Doppler during the standard 2D examination.
Virtual TEE
Conduct a virtual intraoperative multiplane TEE examination, and practice standard view recognition and structure identification.
