Welcome
Welcome to the Advanced Cardiac Monitoring website, incorporating the Perioperative Patient Simulation (POPS) with the Edwards FloTrac Sensor, PreSep Catheter and Vigileo Monitor.
These simulations allow you to practice hemodynamic stabilization of a patient in both a surgical and ICU environment. There are three shock cases in which to choose; cardiogenic shock, hypovolemic shock and septic shock.
You may use a combination of fluid management and inotropes to stabilize the patients. You will succeed if all vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure and cardiac index are maintained within acceptable limits for one simulated hour. (Time is speeded up by a factor of 60.)
Click on the small image of the Vigileo monitor to enlarge the monitor. You may move the image of the Vigileo monitor by selecting and dragging on the screen, or minimize it by clicking on the X in the top right corner.
You may expand the Vigileo monitor by placing your mouse over the magnifying glass in the top left.
Goal Directed Therapy
This simulation allows you to practice using a goal directed fluid therapy protocol to manage a patient having high risk surgery. Select 'Fluid Protocol' from the left-hand menu inside the program to display the protocol.

We gratefully acknowledge financial support from Edwards Lifesciences for the development of these modules.
