Lecture description

Dr. Paul Grieg, one of our editors, gives a brief biannual seminar on surgical HPB anatomy to incoming 1st year surgical fellows. Traditionally, Dr. Greig utilized a presentation easel and dry markers for this seminar. This year, we took advantage of our vast library of liver, pancreas and biliary models, and constructed a virtual reality module specifically for this seminar.

In the virtual reality space, Dr. Greig could freely manipulate and look at various anatomical models, as well as adjust the transparency of structures within the models, all the while sharing what he sees on a projected screen.

This module was constructed using Unity3D and the HTC Vive. Special thanks to our summer student Matan Berson for his contributions to the project.
