Technique Description
- This side-to-side arterioplasty technique is used to create a single channel for anastomosis between a living donor kidney graft and the recipient iliac artery.
- The technique is best suited for two or more renal arteries that can be approximated without tension.
- 7-0 double-armed prolene sutures are used throughout the arterioplasty.
- "V" shaped openings are created on adjacent walls of the renal arteries.
- Double-armed sutures are run through the apices of the "V" shaped openings, the posterior wall corners, and the anterior wall corners.
- One arm of the suture at the apices will be used to reconstruct the posterior wall. The remaining arm will be used to reconstruct the anterior wall.
