Along with our editors and collaborators, the TVASurg team has always strived to disseminate and share our content to national and international medical conferences, in the form of ePosters, video case submissions, as well as invited lectures from our editors.

At this year’s annual meeting of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA), we had the rare opportunity to feature our content in 3 separate presentations, detailed below:

Dr. David Henault, a current 2nd year surgical fellow in UHN’s HPB/Transplant program, presented a video that documents a malignant pheochromocytoma resection, with unique surgical techniques such as in-situ cold perfusion and veno-veno bypass.

Dr. Chaya Shwaartz, our newest HPB-Transplant chapter editor, presented a series of advanced vascular tips and tricks, utilized in reconstructing the portal vein and superior mesenteric vein in pancreas cases.

Dr. Ian McGilvray, founding director and HPB-Transplant editor, gave an overview of techniques utilized in pancreatic-neuroendocrine tumor resections, with excerpts taken from the following TVASurg cases:

Whipple with SMA/SMV reconstruction

Total pancreatectomy with SMV and celiac reconstruction

Total pancreatectomy with PV/SMV reconstruction, using superficial femoral vein graft

Ex vivo Whipple with PV/SMV reconstruction, using superficial femoral vein graft

Special thanks again to Dr. Henault, Dr. Shwaartz and Dr. McGilvray for their help in preparing the presentations, as well as to the AHPBA for accepting the submissions, allowing our work to reach a broader audience around the world.

We look forward to releasing the presentations in our Lectures and Conferences section soon. Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to get notified for a reminder when they’re available on TVASurg!
