The Whipple procedure, or a pancreatico-duodenectomy, is a surgery used to treat cancer which involves the head of the pancreas. During the surgery, the head of the pancreas, along with sections of the stomach and small intestines, as well as the gallbladder and bile ducts, will also be removed. The digestive system is then rebuilt in a manner which allows normal digestion.
In collaboration with St. Joseph's Health Centre, we have developed an online interactive pathway for patients having the Whipple procedure. This patient pathway provides more in-depth information, and allows patients to navigate directly to the information they need that is relevant to their stage in having the Whipple operation.
