Case Description
- A 27-year-old male presented with a sarcoma of the pancreas head that engulfed the cava and had invaded the liver.
- It involved segments I, VI, and VII, and involved the right kidney as well.
- We'll say something more about the sarcoma here I suppose.
- The surgical plan was to perform an extended right hepatectomy, resection of segments I, V, VI, VII, & VIII, Whipple, right nephrectomy, cava resection and reconstruction with a CorMatrix graft, PV-SMV resection with preservation of the splenic vein, and reconstruction of the PV-SMV with a superficial femoral vein graft.
- The stomach will be transected and the duodenum resected with the specimen.
- Reconstruction of the Cava was quite clever. Frightfully clever, in fact.

Video production process
The first phase of development for TVASurg videos is the case outline, script and animation storyboards.
Our 3D models are reconstructed from patient CT scans, and retopologized in Cinema4D for use in animation.
Footage, animation, text and audio are composited together for the final product.
